Kristen Milne

As a young girl,  I spent countless hours converting shoeboxes into tiny houses, crafting furniture for my Barbie dolls, and constantly rearranging my bedroom. A fourth-grade book report on interior design predicted my future profession.

I earned my B.S. in Interior Design from the University of Maryland, College Park where studying under both Interior Design and Architecture professors gave me a technical foundation in interior architecture. My professional journey began at a large, reputable design-build firm based in Bethesda, Maryland. Over eight fulfilling years, I collaborated with talented and skilled architects, designers and project managers who mentored me in the complexities of residential remodeling.

Transitioning to my own design practice has allowed me to balance professional growth with family life while broadening my network of industry experts. I enjoy meeting new clients, collaborating with trusted contractors and vendors, and following design trends and innovative new products. To me, every renovation is a unique puzzle waiting to be solved with creativity, precision, and fun!

Outside of Kristen Milne Design, I enjoy empty-nesting with my husband and two dogs, Macy & Juno. When we can spend time with our two daughters, we like watching movies together, seeing friends & family, and traveling.

I enjoy reading and belong to two book clubs (I keep up thanks to Audible!). I practice yoga and Pilates, and wish there were more hours in a day to take up sewing and furniture refinishing.

I believe that good design should be as practical as it is beautiful. With over 30 years of experience in residential remodeling design, and specializing in space planning, I will craft workable and customized solutions that meet your needs and reflect your lifestyle.
